Keep Troll Unguent with about 9 or 10 Wilderness Survival, and use it earlier than you think you need it. Use a blocking stance such as Whirling Defense or Lightning Reflexes, or Natural Stride if you don't have access to the others. Throw Dirt can help you out in some situations.
Here's the best advice to get survivor anyone can give: use heroes with good builds, not PUGs. Heroes don't care if you need to Alt-F4 quickly to prevent a death (cheap maybe, but if you want the title bad enough…), heroes don't question your orders or do stupid things, and heroes only suck if you allow them to suck.

I would either go full for or against the pet personally. Since you are a Survivor, you may want to use your pet as an additional damage tanker. There are also a few skills in the BM section that [skill]fertile season[/skill] or [skill]symbiosis[/skill] (with a hero bonder) that can also help your survivability. If you have Factions [skill]heal as one[/skill] makes a great elite to use in your situation keeping your pet tank, and you up at the same time. However, if you don't want to go full out with your pet, you may just want to drop him to eek out some higher regeneration from Troll or a few extra seconds from defensive stances.

[skill]distracting shot[/skill][skill]savage shot[/skill]
These are two of the strongest skills in the game.
Drop the useless pet and learn to use them.

There's only 4?!?!?
Important distinction. If you're asking about Ranger bars for survivor, you probably don't have a ton of expertise playing one.... Survivor is much less about the 8 skills than player skill in my opinion (unless you grind on the same old smack over and over to get there)

The way to become a Legendary Survivor is killing before getting killed.
So keep just one spammable block and speed boost stance, Natural Stride is probably the best, keep Troll Unguent for any emergency and a lot of attack/interrupt skills.
Here's my bar to gain the title:
Read the Wind (effective to use a flat bow)
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Double Shot
Poison Arrow
Troll Unguent
Whirling Defences
Rebirth
With the new NF/GWEN skills you could really improve your bar using Burning Arrow, Poison Signet and Disrupting Shot for example.

By the way, quick tip - don't Alt+F4, use F12+Enter. It logs you out much quicker, Alt+F4 keeps you logged in for a little while, during which you might die.

[skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill]
Expertise 15 (12+3)
This gives 75% blocking chance every 43~45 seconds. In this interval you have time to kill a mob of 5 with two monks. If you can't manage, then something is wrong.
